Comcast ventures into phone service

Article Abstract:

Comcast Crop. would introduce iPod (voice over IP), its new digital technology that converts ones voice into digital packets for transmission over its cable-TV network with which it could become a serious competitor in the phone industry. VOIP makes efficient use of a network than the older circuit switched phone system, by breaking a call up into digital bits, sending them over a network, then resembling the bits at the receiving end.

Helping hospitals get 'where they have to go'

Siemens Medical Solutions USA of Malvern is helping to take out some of the strain out of the daily work of doctors and nurses by giving them access to thousands of drug prescription recommendations. Siemens Medical is hoping that the health-care industry's growth desire to computerize hospitals and eliminate medical mistakes will increase the sales of its software and medical equipment in the future.
