Comcast reports jump in earnings

Philadelphia, Penn.-based Comcast Corp. has announced a new plan to provide small- and medium-sized firms with data, voice and Internet services. Comcast, which is earning strong profits from high-speed cable modem and digital cable services, has reported lagging sales for its cable television operations.

Comcast's strategy helped deal for use of Gemstar cable guide

Philadelphia-based Comcast Corp., the third-largest cable company in the U.S., signed a 20-year agreement yesterday with Gemstar-TV Guide International Group Inc. that indicates that TV Guide's interactive program guide will be featured in most of Comcast's digital-cable households.

Comcast Corp. to eliminate dividend, rely on stock price

Article Abstract:

Philadelphia, PA-based cable giant Comcast Corp. said recently that it will eliminate its dividend, deciding to depend on its stock performance alone to attract investors. The company will approve a 2-for-1 stock split. US tax policy has made dividends less attractive to investors than escalating stock prices, which makes the company's move not very unusual or original.
