Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott operate the biggest hotel frequent-guest programs. The purchase of the Sheraton and Westin hotel brands by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. has produced a major rival for other hotel chains. With the acquisition, Sheraton's and Westin's separate programs became part of Starwood's Preferred Guest program. Starwood's program has helped all of the frequent-guest programs, because the other companies are offering bonuses in an attempt to compete.
