Crown Cork cutting 1,150 jobs

Philadelphia, Penn.-based Crown Cork, which will report lower than estimated profits in 2000, has announced that it will terminate 1,150 employees and close three plants. Crown Cork, which is a can and bottle manufacturer, also is restructuring its European operations.

Crown Cork holds dividend

Philadelphia, Penn.-based Crown Cork and Seal Company Inc. has announced it will suspend quarterly dividend payments for its common stock. Crown Cork, which manufactures packaging products, will use the funds to pay off some of its debt.

Crown Cork raises reserve on asbestos claims

Crown Cork and Seal Company Inc. took a fourth-quarter charge to boost its reserves for claims of asbestos-related injuries, and last year's $166 million noncash, after-tax charge was the largest of the three.
