'E-insurance' goal closer for Provident; the E. Norriton life insurer plans to buy a software firm in a move to become an online brokerage

Dallas, Texas-based Insurdata Inc., covering church groups and school employees through its online business, has agreed to be acquired by Provident American Corp. Provident American has sold all of its less than profitable business segments and will concentrate on the online business, keeping its headquarters in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The new company will be called HealthAxis.com.
