Getting beyond show ponies

Article Abstract:

The 2002 Survey of Business owners revealed that women-owned businesses and and black owned businesses grew by 20% and 45%, respectively, during the 1997-2002 period. The business world is realizing the importance of workplace diversity in market competition. The growth of minorities and women in the business sector of Baton Rouge, during 1982 to 2005, is investigated.

Article Abstract:

Baton Rouge restaurant industry is strong, as there were 2,051 restaurants earning $978 million dollars in yearly revenue, and emplying almost 26,000 individuals. Independent restaurants need to compete with chain eateries, which had increased in number in 1982-2007. Baton Rouge restaurant culture and its future are investigated.
