HIP of Pennsylvania said to be closing on March 5

Article Abstract:

HIP of Pennsylvania (Trevose, PA) told its approximately 2 dozen employees that it may shut down on Mar 5, 1999, according to an anonymous HIP system employee. The Pennsylvania member of HIP Health Plans (New York, NY) has also reportedly told the US Office of Personnel Management that 34 federal government employees enrolled in the HMO should begin seeking alternative coverage. Sources say that HIP of Pennsylvania, unlike its bankrupt affiliate HIP of New Jersey, is voluntarily withdrawing from the market.

Pilots get a late contract proposal

US Airways pilots repeatedly e-mailed their top officials asking for a balanced approach in concessions and later on they acquired a new contract proposal from the company. One of the officials at the US Airways stated that the main aim of company's newest proposal is to maintain the salary levels as close to the current W-2 earning s as possible by increasing the number of hours flown by pilots and flight attendants.

Insureres in N.J. ease policy on cancer

Article Abstract:

Federally-approved experimental trials of cancer treatments will be covered voluntarily by the largest health insurers in New Jersey. Industry analysts, who have said the new policy goes against the tide of HMO coverage, believe the expanded coverage will increase patient participation in the trials.
