In-home care firm files for Chapter 11; Home Health Corp. will reorganize

Article Abstract:

Home Health Corporation of America Inc (King of Prussia, PA) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Feb 18, 1999. Home Health CEO Bruce Feldman says the firm's patients will continue to receive treatment. About 28 Philadelphia area children, however, will have to be readmitted to hospitals, because the company can no longer afford the upwards of $600,000 a month needed to treat them at home. About 10% of Home Health's roughly 3000 employees will lose their jobs. Feldman says 6 managed care companies owe Home Health a total of at least $15 million.
