MBNA's lending fell in 1st quarter

This article discusses the finances of MBNA Corp. The Wilmington, Delaware-based credit-card bank. Lending declined in the first quarter, but profits rose 33% over last year because the company pocketed the savings from rate cuts by the Federal Reserve.

Former U.S. Bancorp official to lead First USA

Wilmington, Penn.-based First USA, which is a subsidiary of Bank One Corp., has announced the appointment of Philip G. Heasley as its new chief executive officer. Mr. Heasley, who had worked at U.S. Bancorp, has replaced William P. Boardman.
