McDonald's kind of place; did somebody say Philly?

Article Abstract:

McDonald's Corp (Oak Brook, IL) says it is planning to invest $73 million by early 2002 to expand its Philadelphia operations. The fast-food chain will move the headquarters of its Northeast Division, which has $3.9 billion in annual revenue, to Philadelphia' Center Square. Philadelphia restaurants will be modernized, and 24 new restaurants will be opened in the city. The division is currently headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois.

Preparing sites for architects' artistry

Article Abstract:

Engineers at Philadelphia-based Pennoni Associates reroute utility lines, redesign sewers and generally prepare previously-used sites for redevelopment by architects and builders. Among Pennoni's high-profile projects is the Citizen's Bank Park where engineers had to design the drainage system so the ballpark, which is 10 feet below the water table, would always remain dry.

$92 million tower in works for S. Broad St.

Article Abstract:

A new 31-story tower on South Broad Street is near its completion. This $92 million project, called Symphony House, will have 160 residential condominiums, a 350-seat venue for the Philadelphia Theatre Company, a ground-floor restaurant and a 395-car garage.
