Rendell had early knowledge of protest

Article Abstract:

Gov. Rendell, a staunch booster of the Convention Center and critic of its current management structure, stated that a union leader told him in advance about a controversial job protest which happened in June 2004. The June 16-17, 2004 labor action by union electricians has got into controversy for the complex, whose reputation and financial success are vital to Center City's economy.

Phila. port and Pa. to sign Cuba sales deal

Article Abstract:

Philadelphia port and state agriculture officials are scheduled to go to Havana in the third week of April 2004, to sign commitments for up to $10 million in exports to Cuba. On April 14, 2004 officials reported that the signings would make Philadelphia the only port, and Pennsylvania the only Northeastern state, with limited commerce with the government of Fidel Castro.

Doctors earn most-unless female

Article Abstract:

A study reported that women are earning less in almost every income category than men, especially in Pennsylvania, physicians and surgeons who have one of the widest gender gap in pay of all jobs. The fact is that the man is probably willing to do what it takes to become a partner, whereas the female is more interested in family life.
