Twin troubles force Union Pacific to downgrade forecast: Crew shortages, resulting in shipping delays, and diesel-fuel costs will likely cut earnings by a third

Article Abstract:

Union Pacific Corp., the nations biggest railroad is faced by two problems. The first problem is that they are struggling with a crew shortage, rail congestion and retirement of engineers under new federal rules and the other problem is the cost of diesel fuel, which is up about 30 percent.

Spending increase proposed at DRPA

Article Abstract:

An 11% annual budget increase for 2001 has been approved by the Delaware River Port Authority, which will spend $95.9 million. The DRPA will use the funds for its PATCO High Speed Line and other transportation projects.

Transit agencies seek damages in price-fixing conspiracy

Several railroad companies and transit agencies have sued Morganite Inc. and other companies for conspiracy and price fixing. The companies make products required by railroad engines.
