Wanted: changed image for deeply changed firm

Article Abstract:

Unisys Corp. Chief Executive Lawrence A. Weinbach led the launching of a $20-million ad campaign intended to revise the company's somber image and reflect its move towards providing computer services and consulting, away from the manufacture of mainframe computers. Weinbach, who assumed his present position only in the fall of 1997, has made a successful turnaround of Unisys which had been troubled by large debts, heavy losses and massive lay offs. Unisys has now become profitable after posting $1.7 billion in revenues in its most recent quarter in 1998.
