A businessman's drive

Article Abstract:

John Heller is a senior partner at Hammond Suddards which is a law firm from Leeds, England, that has expanded to become a national player. The collapse of the UK housing market created work for the company which advises building societies on repossessions. Heller argues that clients should be given clear advice on which course to take with reasons, rather than being offered choices. Heller has plans to diversify and this could involve projects outside legal activities such as management consultancy, or there may be a move into tax work.

In pursuit of quality

Article Abstract:

Paul Lee is managing partner at the law firm of Addleshaw Sons and Latham. He became a partner when he was 26-years-old and was involved in the Trinity Holdings deal, a 327 million pounds sterling acquisition in 1995. He sees delegation as a key skill. He aims for Addleshaw to develop in new areas as well as the company's current areas, and argues that quality is important. Law firms have to be aware of their corporate clients' commercial needs.
