A clinical evaluation of stereopsis required to see 3-D images

Article Abstract:

A new stereotest with dynamic random-dot stereogram (DRDS) which has larger disparity with movement was developed for children with esotropia to determine if they can enjoy stereopsis for three-dimensional animations using dynamic images with large disparity. Seventeen esotropic children took the DRDS test, seven of whom passed while 10 failed. It was found that the age at onset of strabismus was substantially higher among those who passed the DRDS test. These findings indicate that the DRDS test is helpful in assessing potential stereopsis in esotropic children who fail conventional stereotests.

Development of sizing systems for protective clothing for the adult male

Article Abstract:

Anthropometric data was obtained from male sample of the New Zealand Fire Services to develop a sizing system appropriate for protective clothing. Data on the NZFS was found to be similar in certain vertical dimensions to data from other comparable countries, although girth dimensions differed. Information on body dimensions is now part of purchase requirements for items used by the force.

An evaluation of respiratory protective devices used in children's evacuation

Article Abstract:

Assessment of the utility value of respiratory protective devices (RPDs) through simulated experimental scenarios involving the evacuation of 160 children from their homes or day care centers revealed the relative ineffectiveness of evacuating children with RPDs such as protective masks and jackets. Protective masks were comparatively useful but were found to be difficult to fit.
