A refresher course in fiscal fitness

Article Abstract:

Business Resource Services Chmn Steven C. Lefever advises business owners to focus on fiscal health rather than expansion to improve cash flow, revenues and profits. Business owners who neglect to monitor where the money in their company is going may run into financial trouble despite record sales and profits. Lefever stressed that the first step toward efficiently running a business is to understand how one's financial statements are formulated, and the structure and composition of these reports, then understand how these work together. Busines owners must also learn to use financial data to produce a series of ratios, which must then be interpreted to analyze the causes and effects of financial events within the company.
