Acquisition revival awaited by Jones Medical followers

Article Abstract:

The stock price of Jones Medical Industries Inc (Jones) went down significantly at the close of 1991 due to investors' reaction to the company's lower sales, higher costs and diluted stock value due to corporate acquisitions. However, the figures in Jones' balance sheet showed that the firm actually did well for the year. The company has presently made some recovery in terms of its stock price but it still has not reached its previous high. The major factor that pushed Jones' growth was its acquisitions, and long-term investors will likely buy the stocks if they see a repeat of this strategy.

ISP shares monopoly in key specialty chemicals

Article Abstract:

International Specialty Products Inc (ISP) posted sales gains of over 12% for the Sep 1992 quarter but its stock valuation is not very stable. Analysts Katherine Plourde and Fred Siemer have guarded short-term outlooks on ISP. Another analyst believes that ISP has shown its vulnerability to recession and currency price changes. ISP's stock, however, is very promising despite these weak speculations because the firm has relative monopoly over acetylene-based chemical derivatives and ceramic colored roofing granules.
