Adm. Collins: Deepwater Fund delays to inflate repair costs

Article Abstract:

Adm. Thomas Collins, Commandant of the Coast Guard revealed that delays imposed on funding for the $20 billion Deepwater purchase of new cutters, aircraft and other gear would inflate the expenses of keeping old platforms running. He added that Deepwater is not merely a collection of individual assets, but is rather conceived and designed as an entirety, where all the parts are required in an overall functioning totality.
