EMCORE Corporation, Inc., Albuquerque, N.M., was awarded on Nov. 20, 1998, a $5,909,469 Technology Investment Agreement contract ($1,565,215 Government Portion; $4,344,254 Contractor Portion) to provide for development of advanced multijunction solar cells that will reduce satellite weight. This was a Broad Agency Announcement; there were five proposals received. Expected contract completion date is November 2001. Solicitation issue date was Dec. 17, 1997. Negotiation completion date was Oct. 30, 1998. Air Force Research Laboratory, Kirtland AFB, N.M., is the contracting activity (F29601-98-2-0194).

General Atomics, San Diego, Calif., is being awarded an $8,216,240 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to provide for development of an integrated manufacturing process for the fabrication of low cost, high performance low observable pigments for formulation into low observable coatings for aircraft and other Air Force assets. Expected contract completion date is Feb. 27, 2001. Solicitation issue date was May 13, 1998. Negotiation completion date was Oct. 27, 1998. Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, is the contracting activity (F33615-98-C-5165).
