The Raptor is one of the five most sophisticated and most expensive fighter plane of the U.S. military at Tyndall, where the Air Force's 43rd Fighter Squadron is conducting initial operational test and evaluation. The F/A-22 stealth fighter, Raptor has achieved desired levels of software stability to advance to operational testing but the Air Force wants to perform more tests before declaring final results. Air Force officials however cautioned that improvement in avionics stability was a slow and continuous process and there still may be some way to go before the Raptor is available for deployment.

Air Force studies ground attack options for F-15C fleet

United States Air Force officials are studying options to upgrade all the 179 F-15C, Boeing aircrafts with ground attack capabilities, till the advanced versions F/A-22 Raptor is available for deployment. The upgrades would mean big business for large corporations like Raytheon Co. and Northrop Grumman among others.
