Allen reported a record profit for 1995 to 1996 and is carrying out a share issue in 1996. The company plans to invest the funds raised in expansion of its hire activities. Allen has opened or acquired 72 hire depots during the three years to 1996. Allen's profit from civil engineering rose by 100% to 1.66 million pounds sterling in 1995 to 1996. Profits from housebuilding have fallen, but the market appears to have reached its lowest point. There is less pressure on land prices and reservations have increased.

The biggest 100 customers account for some 50% of Gearhouse's sales. Gearhouse is active in the Middle East and has moved into the US market. The company's profit is forecast at 2.4 million pounds sterling for 1995 to 1996 by Peel Hunt. The company has opened an office in the US to gain access to the US market for concert touring.
