Allen has opened or acquired 72 hire depots during the three years to 1996. Allen's profit from civil engineering rose by 100% to 1.66 million pounds sterling in 1995 to 1996. Profits from housebuilding have fallen, but the market appears to have reached its lowest point. There is less pressure on land prices and reservations have increased.
