Amdahl Corp.'s success in maintaining its global businesses in 33 countries is hinged on picking the right partners overseas. Marketers must be aware of what doing overseas business will entail, something which will come easy with the aid of a distributor. The mainframe computer manufacturer based in Sunnyvale, CA, advises that issues pertaining to currency, trade barriers and culture can be better understood through the right overseas partner. SunExpress on the road to Canada

SunExpress Inc., the aftermarketing arm of Sun Microsystems Inc., will offer free phone and fax access in its facility in Chelmsford, MA, to Sun Microsystem's Canadian customers beginning on July 10, 1995. SunExpress discovered that its customer service, compatibility information and ordering capabilities are in demand in Canada when 8,000 Canadian customers logged in to its Internet address. SunExpress plans to further strengthen its base in Canada with direct mailings.

Web site and intranet developer American Information Systems (AIS) calls in outside facilitators to mediate meetings with clients. AIS Pres Joshua Schneider says that Web projects are often undermined by disagreements between the various departments of a company. Facilitators ensure that all parties are able to express their concerns in order to reach a consensus on the goals and resources needed for the project.
