America's cheapest Internet developers: mom-and-pop Web shops rattle the market

Small Internet-presence developers are providing tough competition for their larger counterparts. For just a few hundred dollars, these companies can put up World Wide Web sites for their clients in just a short span of time. Major Web developers criticize these mom-and-pop operations, saying that their sites are low-priced because they are low on quality. However, these small firms retort that their services are cheap since they do not offer unnecessary services or overcharge their clients.

Kodak sees millions in Web site savings

Article Abstract:

Eastman Kodak is able to achieve significant savings through its Web site. Its site has over 10,000 pages of information on 600 products, allowing the company to cease the publication of its product catalog. With 175,000 downloads of digital equipment from its Web site made by customers in 1996, Kodak is reaping the benefits of this communication channel. The company's Internet staff is working to quantify the impact of daily hits to demonstrate the value of the site to the organization.
