Analysts warns procurement spending may decelerate

Andrew Krepinevich, executive director of the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments indicated that due to increase in the operating and maintenance costs for continued army operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, the procurement spending might decelerate. He said that the three greatest challenges facing the US military forces were radical Islam, nuclear proliferation and a rising China, and hence it would not be advisable to reduce modernization procurement outlays.
