Anthropometric characteristics of Japanese aged 0-59 years by analysis of a unified correlation matrix

Article Abstract:

The anthropometric data of about 40,000 Japanese men and women of 0-59 years were collected by the analysis of a unified correlation matrix. In order to produce correlation coefficients for the entire subject group, the correlation coefficient of each measured item pair for each partial group of similar-age, same-gender subjects were used. A unified correlation matrix was obtained by the manipulation of the resulting equation. Each individual partial group was analyzed, and the physical features which were represented by the obtained principal factors were examined.

An experimental study of pilots' control characteristics for flight of an STOL aircraft in backside of drag curve at approach and landing

Article Abstract:

Human reactivity to take-offs and landings of short take-off and landing aircrafts using computer models was analyzed. The simulation of a multiple-variable manual control system was implemented for control research regarding velocity and altitude reactions by pilots in conditions of backside dragging. This situation occurs when low velocities were used for landing approaches at short airports and results in flight characteristic differences. It was shown that control can be easily retained by the pilot by maintaining the necessary velocity.

An anthropometric study of Singapore candidate aviators

Article Abstract:

A study of the physical structure of 832 Singaporean candidates for pilot training revealed significant differences in the body shapes of Asian and Caucasian aviators. This finding highlights the need for enhanced knowledge of anthropometry in designing equipment, workspace and workstation layouts to suit the physical needs of different ethnic groups.
