Army seeks more Textron armored cars for Iraq

Article Abstract:

The Army in Iraq wants to order more armored cars for military police and convoy escort missions as it is faced with a growing insurgency. The Armored Security Vehicle (ASV) is a four- wheeled armored car manufactured by New Orleans-based Textron Marine and Land Systems that is under a contract to produce 104 ASV's which costs approximately $600,000 each, and if the army can find the funding it would bring the total number in order to 132.
