At a crossroads... bull street and bear avenue

Article Abstract:

Persistent insider selling has been observed in industries that depend on consumer. There is also a significant amount of investments pouring in equity funds. The actions of insiders in electric utility stocks have been quite reliable in 1991 and 1992. These insiders currently believe that interest rates will increase within the coming months of 1993. If this speculation has any substance, insider actions in the gold and precious metals indutry will probably be worthwhile. It should be noted that gold shares have gained the confidence of insiders more than the utility shares have.

Utility insiders harbor safe returns

Article Abstract:

Substantial insider buying has been noted in the electric utility sector since the summer of 1991. This is noteworthy considering the conservative nature of insiders in this industry. The accumulation has also escalated despite low interest rates and electric utility insiders have excellent trading histories when interest rates used as bases. The insider purchase might be the insiders' way of capitalizing on the stock yields. A buy rating is given to the stocks of Commonwealth Edison Co, Texas Utilities Co, Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Co and FPL Group Inc.

The tide is moving out

Article Abstract:

Insider trading in securities as of early May 1993, indicates that an economic recovery will not occur in the near-term. Insiders in the utility sector and oil and gas sector believe that rates will not yet appreciate so profit taking has become evident. There are also indications that the money supply is declining. All of these are signs of a protracted recession.
