Article Abstract:

IDEO Product Development is an engineering firm based in Palo Alto, California, and the industrial designer Aura Oslapas heads its Environments Group. Educated in Cranbrook, Oslapas has an interdisciplinary approach. Before joining IDEO, Oslapas worked in Burdick Group, Esprit, in her own firm A+O, and at the California College of Arts and Crafts. Working with interior architects of Steelcase, Oslapas created an innovative showroom in New York that combines multimedia displays with physical objects. She also worked for Amtrak on the redesign of rail service for the Northeast Corridor.

Article Abstract:

Apple's new operating system Mac OS 8 offers a variety of new features including 3-D look, gray shading, and increased desktop design control. The system is claimed to offer greater efficiency and speed. Apple product development and enhancement involves working with customer support groups for feedback on existing problems or suggestions, followed by extensive testing, including focus groups, field studies and usability studies in a laboratory.
