Bank reports win high marks

Article Abstract:

A global financial reporting study adjudged the Royal Bank of Canada and the Bank of Montreal as the most noteworthy banks in the world. Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd is the only other bank that has earned the same rating. The study titled 'Bank Annual Reports: 1992 World Survey' was made by Robert Woods, a CICA member and KPMG Stokes Kennedy Crowley partner, and Michael Lafferty, Lafferty Group CEO. The study categorized the yearly reports of 100 of the most successful banks in the world according to the quality of the data they presented. Business plans you can take to the bank

Article Abstract:

Both big and small businesses should know how to prepare business plans as banks require their presentation before granting loans. Business plans usually have the following parts: company description, marketing plan, production or operating plan, financing plan and personnel capabilities. Business owners should realize that banks nowadays are no longer enticed to extend loans by attractive collaterals. Instead, they are now after borrowers who have the proven ability to propel their businesses to financial success. A guide for the preparation of the plan is given.

Shareholders' perceptions on the usefulness of MD&AS

Article Abstract:

The management, discussion and analysis section (MD&AS) of corporate annual reports indicate a firm's liquidity and capital resource needs, cash sources and uses, year to year financial statement changes, segment data and other pertinent information. Such information is valuable for investors. However, experienced investors rely more on financial statements as an investment guide because of the MD&AS' poor performance and the absence of credibility.
