Bond House: Uncertainty still lies ahead

Article Abstract:

The European Court of Justice (ECJ) declared unlawful arguments relied on by Revenue & Customs to stop pounds sterling 13m of tax from hi-tech broker Bond House in July 2002, and which was used by the Revenue as a precedent for over 100 other cases involving in excess of pound sterling 750m. The Revenue had argued that since July 2002 that the entitlement of a trader to a VAT credit is judged by reference to the total transactions in a supply chain, not individual transactions themselves.
