British Mohair: trying times ahead

Article Abstract:

British Mohair saw a drop in its share price following a profit warning in Dec 1995. The company faces problems in the world market for mohair. Subsidies for mohair farmers are being reduced in the US which is likely to push up the price of the raw material. Meanwhile, sluggish economic growth in Germany has affected imports of mohair products, and Germany is a key export market for British Mohair. The company's engineering division is performing better. The company;s profit is estimated at 2.5 million pounds sterling for 1995, rising to 3 million pounds for 1996.

Organic growth continues

Article Abstract:

Waterman Partnership is a United Kingdom engineer which plans to acquire Rennick Consulting Engineers, a Scottish firm. The company has also achieved organic growth and its order books were strong at the start of 1999. The UK accounts for 95% of the company's sales and this has meant that exposure is to the UK industry in recovery raher than to Asian markets where there have been problems. The company's pre-tax profit is forecast at 2.4 million pounds sterling for 1998 to 1999.
