Build your pension on firm foundations

Article Abstract:

Self-invested personal pensions (Sipps) offer British investors greater flexibility than conventional personal pensions, and can be used by owners of small businesses to invest in commercial real estate. Mortgages can be used to buy a business premises, with the pension fund meeting repayments. Sipps are not suitable for people with a pension fund smaller than 100,000 pounds sterling. Commercial real estate canbe a good investment, with uses after the business owner has ceased to need it.

A selection from the trolley

Article Abstract:

United Kingdom Self Invested Personal Pensions (Sipps) can provide more flexibility and the opportunity to select investments, compared to conventional plans. Sipps may be suitable for people seeking to consolidate pension contracts, and for people starting to save for a pension who can save large amounts. Sipps can also be used for holding business premises, and they are suitable vehicles for deferred annuities using income drawdowns.

Build your nest egg the easy way

Article Abstract:

United Kingdom state pensions provide a low level of income, and retirement income can be boosted by saving for a pension through a company scheme or a personal pension scheme. Company schemes have the advantage that employers contribute, but self-employed people do not have access to these schemes. Tax benefits are available, though there are maximum contribution levels which vary according to types of scheme and the age of the saver. Novices can benefit from expert help, and there are periodicals offering guides to pensions.
