Business parks battle it out

Article Abstract:

Business parks are being developed in the south of Manchester, England. The major players are Arlington Securities with its Woodhouse Park site of 67 acres, and Amec with its Cheadle Royal site also of 67 acres. Meanwhile P and O Properties is making progress at Towers Business Park. There is also the Concord Business Park of 20 acres where Hypo Properties and Didsbury are active. Demand for premium, high-specification offices is limited and a problem of oversupply could arise.

Developers dive in droves

Article Abstract:

A large number of commercial real estate developers have been attracted to Manchester, England. Amec Developments owns many prime sites in the area. Orbit Developments is seeking to diversify and has schemes close to Manchester Airport. Chestergate Seddon is carrying out a large scale project in central Manchester. Arrowcroft North West has been set up by Arrowcroft and North West Water which owns a large amount of real estate such as attractive industrial sites.

Big spenders come to town

Article Abstract:

Institutional investors have been attracted by real estate opportunities in Manchester, England. The amount involved in deals has risen to 20 million pounds sterling on a regular basis with on involving over 50 million pounds. Previously it was rare for sums of over 5 million pounds to be committed. Investors include the Railways Pension Fund, and the Universities Superannuation Scheme. There has been little interest from foreign investors, but this could change.
