C-17 proves under fire, officials say

Article Abstract:

The C-17 Globemaster III cargo aircraft, which is a major advancement in United States military transport capabilities during war has proved the soundness of the direct delivery concept of critical wartime material over great distances. The C-17 can perform such feats as collecting an unusual cargo and then making direct delivery from a continental United States air base to an austere field on very small, unimproved runaways.

Wynne cities $3 billion in contracts Druyun may have tainted

Article Abstract:

A Pentagon study has flagged eight more contracts that exceeds $3 billion, which Darleen Druyun, the former Air Force procurement official might have tainted. Michael Wynne, acting under secretary of defense for acquisition stated that he would refer all eight contracts to the Department of Defense (DOD) Inspector General (IG) for further investigation and for recommendations on possible action.

Wynne denies DOD need for new management post

Article Abstract:

David Walker, United States comptroller general, representing the Government Accountability Office (GAO) is of the opinion that it would be advantageous for the Pentagon to create a new position for chief management officer. Michael Wynne, the under secretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics believes that there is no need for such a position.
