Card Clear: swiping away fraud

Article Abstract:

Card Clear is a UK company which specialising in tackling the problem of credit card fraud. The company's hot card broadcasting method has been backed by credit card issuers and allows data to be passed rapidly on stolen cards, cutting fraud losses. All major gasoline stations in the UK deal with Card Clear. The company is expanding and turnover was 358,000 pounds sterling for 1st half 1995. Problems from a faulty component will affect the company's results but Card Clear is expected to report a profit for 1st qtr 1996.

The company forecasts an operating profit of 300,000 pounds sterling on sales of 2.5 million pounds for 1995, and operating profit could increase to 0.5 million pounds by 1998.

Tunstall Group: it's a false alarm

Article Abstract:

Tunstall Group saw a drop in its share price following an announcement over sales at Modern Vitalcall which had been acquired in 1995. This follows problems encountered by Tunstall in a previous attempt to diversify. The concern over Modern Vitalcall may be exaggerated since that company provides service contracts for the market for emergency communications for the aged. Tunstall has also increased its earnings and its core business is profitable.
