Chinese buildup not a direct threat to U.S.: Rand
Article Abstract:
A new study issued by the Rand Corp., a non-profit research organization based in Santa Monica, California indicates that the military buildup going on in China will not present a threat to the United States. The study also indicates that China's military spending is increasing at a rate which will make it possible for China to surpass all the U.S. allies in defense spending and assist in improving their regional capabilities.

Congress likely to trim DHS budget plan: House leader
Article Abstract:
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will get a more modest budget increase for fiscal 2006. The proposed DHS budget will get a slight increase of four to five percent as opposed to the seven percent increase to $41.1 billion.
