Choosing a better cell line

Article Abstract:

The North Brunswick, New Jersey-based biotech startup, has developed a technique for screening 12,000 cells per second using a novel reagent and an automated cell sorter that identifies the cells lines with the highest expressors and precise genes of interest. It is described that the identification of the high-producer cell lines is a tedious and time-consuming proposition, which requires the screening of hundreds, even thousands of cell lines.

Small company mergers-good for whom?

Article Abstract:

A range of opinions is offered on the motives driving mergers of biotech companies, which have become a regular part of the biotech industry. A study of 105 mergers between 143 companies in United Kingdom over a 10-year period shows that the improvement of shareholder positions, rather than product pipelines or business opportunities, is the main motivation for such transactions.
