Company demos prototype gun on Army robot

Article Abstract:

The bomb-disposal robots used in Iraq and Afghanistan by the U.S. military in an effort to thwart roadside bombs is reported to have turned into an offensive weapon. The ballistics system mounted on the robot employed Metal Storm, an Australian-based firm's 'round stacking' technology, whereby projectiles and propellant stacked inside multiple barrels are fired using electronic pulses.

LOSAT completes Limited User Test, but funding in doubt

Article Abstract:

Army conducted a successful Limited User Test (LUT) of the Lockheed Martin Corp's, Line-of-sight antitank (LOSAT) weapons system. However, this testing came at a time when House-Senate conference committee decided to reduce the Army's funding program, slashing $71 million of the Army's $86 million request for LOSAT.

Stryker Gun 'on glide path' to production decision: Army

Article Abstract:

The US Army in the month of May 2004 successfully concluded an important series of tests on the Stryker Mobile Gun System (MGS), after settling out the problems in the system. The MGS is now 'on a glide path' towards approval of low-rate production, a decision that is due in August or September 2004.
