Complementarities and fit: strategy, structure, and organizational change in manufacturing

Article Abstract:

A study uses supermodular optimization and games theories to analyze complementarities and fit according to manufacturing strategies, structures and organizational change. Results of the theoretical analysis are presented and their usefulness are described by using them in studying the trend toward modern manufacturing systems. The theoretical results are also used to analyze how Lincoln Electric Co.'s strategy and structure may best be described.

How Entergy's communication response to Hurricane Katrina boosted employee morale and sped service recovery

Article Abstract:

The web-based communications and employee assistance schemes adopted by energy firm Entergy Corporation as a part of its Hurricane Katrina restoration work are discussed. The plans helped in promoting employee morale as well as in speeding up the crisis management services.
