Computer audit update

Article Abstract:

Speakers at the 8th Canadian Conference on Auditing and Computer Technology held in Toronto, Ontario, noted that new fiber optics and cable systems will considerably reduce the costs of communicating auditing data electronically. Given this, the primary challenges facing electronically transmitted auditing data will be to maintain quality and increase feedback efficiency. In addition, another major challenge is maintaining the integrity and security of electronically-transmitted information.

New law on liability

Article Abstract:

Chartered accountants have wanted to get rid of several and joint liability for many years, and Bill S-11 has passed implementing proportional liability to fault. Fairness in litigation is now possible with the legislation, protecting small investors who are at risk being associated with a specific financial transaction.

Gone fishin'

Chartered accountants Robb Mann and Scott Huffman are professional anglers on the fishing tournament circuit, who met at St. Catharines Bassmasters Club, and have since achieved much success. They met the goals they set for themselves last season, and this year hope to win the Classic tournament.
