Conflict and business

Article Abstract:

The Israel-Lebanon conflict in 2006 caused financial shock waves far beyond the area and while physical damage is being restored, the reoccurrence of strife has diluted the commodity most precious to business, namely, hope of stability. Some Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) members share their experiences about living and working in the still unquiet yet growing region.

The impact of the visits carried out by the Quality Assurance Directorate (QAD) on the practitioners and the consequences of the introduction of Practice Assurance (PA) are examined. Some firms have produced an action plan, which focuses on management, structure and effectiveness of those in senior positions, responsibilities and accountability, and recruiting and retaining good staff.

The rationale and working in partnership that helps in building confidence in changing times are explained along with the other benefits achieved. Operational alignment and integration of resources, and strengthening of respective brands together enable greater international presence and influence.
