ConsumerEs use of written product information

Article Abstract:

Two studies were conducted to investigate the predictive role of person-specific, product-specific, and situation-specific influences on the use of instruction manuals in field of electrical consumer products. The results revealed that users built up strong habits in handling appliances, preventing them from referring to instruction manual information when putting into operation a new product of the same category.

Cognitive diversity and team performance in a complex multiple task environment

Article Abstract:

The multiple effects of cognitive diversity in teams operating complex human-machine-systems were examined in a study that employed a PC-based multiple-task environment called the Cabin Air Management System. System understanding and team specialization were examined and the results pointed to benefits of cognitive diversity with regard to system understanding but none with regard to specialization.

Environmental conservation in the domestic domain: The influence of technical design features and person-based factors

Article Abstract:

The environmental impact of electrical consumer products that is influenced by the consumer behavior is examined. The utility of ergonomic measures with regard to their effectiveness to influence proenvironmental behavior, the relationship of person-based factors and actual environmental behavior and the generalizability of findings from the laboratory to a field setting are evaluated.
