Correcting a reporter's error

The author of the Prentice-Hall text, 'The Practice of Public Relations', feels that every mistake of a reporter doesn't need a correction, as it can sometimes draw more attention than the original incorrect story. In case of a mistake, first discuss the remedy with the reporter himself or herself, before going ahead.
