CIPFA chief executive Steve Freer believes that the integration of CIPFA and the ICAEW will create a powerful combined institute, which will be able to offer strong leadership to the profession and improved support to members. It will bring together brand leaders in the two main sectors of the economy creating the platform to be a highly influential player in shaping of the profession's future in the UK as well as in the international arena.

The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) conducted a conference for the World Economic Forum to highlight the way in which its chartered training provides an excellent foundation for business. The theme of the conference is taking responsibility for tough choices that are applicable to regulation of the profession in the European Union (EU).
