Europe's anti-GM stance to presage animal feed shortage?

European Union's (EU's) zero-tolerance stance about genetically-modified (GM) plant materials in imported goods is likely create a huge shortage in livestock feed by 2009-2010. European importers might reject the feed shipments containing traces of the unapproved new varieties of GM crops.

Europe sees sharp decline in GMO research

New genetically modified crop tests have decreased in the European Union to 61 in 2001 compared with 254 in 1998. A moratorium on new transgenic organism development was introduced in 1999 because new legislation is desired.
