DPI delivers biotechnology superstore

Article Abstract:

Discovery Partners International is a service company that integrates drug-delivery technologies under one umbrella. The aim of the La Jolla-based company is to provide potential pharmaceutical company partners with all needed technology and to help these clients develop products without becoming enmeshed in numerous business partnerships. DPI provides its clients, small biotechnology companies trying to become biotechnology companies, with management services, accounting, human resources, office space and other amenities. Structured as a holding company for a consortium of drug-discovery firms, DPI gives start-ups access to established relationships with investors and large corporate partners.

Sugen's strategy: a signal for P and U purchase

Article Abstract:

(PandU) agreed to acquire South San Francisco, CA-based signal transduction company Sugen apparently because Sugen refused to license out early-stage products. PandU is attempting to bolster its oncology pipeline. Sugen needs a corporate partner to fund large-scale trials and speed up development of its compounds.

Cloned cows turn back the cellular clock

Advanced Cell Technology scientists discovered that cells from cows that have been cloned appear to have a younger appearance than those taken from donor cells.
