Darwin uses Microsoft's Merlin magic: animated guide pitching HP palmtops

Article Abstract:

Saatchi & Saatchi unit Darwin Digital, based in San Francisco, CA, has launched a mini Web site which uses Microsoft's Agent software to promote HP's 620LX palmtop computers. The software features an animated figure called Merlin which will guide users around the sales site. Darwin Digital Creative Director Steve DiPaola says that Merlin can respond to questions directly and addresses users by name which, he thinks, will encourage people to watch it longer. Site access and file downloading requirements are described.

If you're hiring a hacker, stick with the pros

Article Abstract:

Companies need the services of computer security experts because of the huge potential losses from break-ins into their databases by unauthorized persons. The security of a system is assessed by experts or hackers which try to enter into the system. However, companies should be careful in their choice because of the possibility of hiring the data thieves themselves. A security audit may cost from $8,000 to $10,000.
