Delphi warns prospects about competitors' prices

Article Abstract:

The negative advertising of DELPHI, a product of General Videotex Corp, is evaluated. It exhorts customers to use the online information service by indicating that it provides extra services at lower costs than competitors. The competing services, CompuServe and GEnie, are mentioned and criticized in the advertisement. The ad features cost-cutting plans and supporting charts which only document usage cost during the evening and weekend and not during business hours. The friendly-tone text includes costs and rates. At the the last section, the text invites readers to try DELPHI.

Innovative telecommunications: new tools find applications in product planning, sales and customer service, market intelligence

Article Abstract:

Innovations in telecommunications technology are providing new tools in marketing, whether involving product development, selling, or improving customer service. Some examples are videoconferencing, interactive voice response telephone systems (IVR), fax-on-demand, and on-line data base services. Some applications of these innovations are discussed, such as Hewlett-Packard Co's use of videoconferencing in product development, IVR's call-handling capability and interactive applications and the use of data bases in business espionage.

It has come out with big and bold advertisements targeting major corporate decision makers. The advertisements capture attention with a simple but eye catching spreads devoid of color illustrations and photographs.
