Digital TV set to spur big demand for PSAs

Article Abstract:

The rollout of digital television (DTV) broadcasting is expected to revive public service announcements (PSAs), which were once believed to be near obsolescence with the deregulation of broadcasting. In return for the expanded services DTV provides, the Gore Commission has urged the Federal Communications Commission to require broadcasters to serve the public interest, including the airing of PSAs. Meanwhile, video producers that want to tap into the resurrected PSA market should develop PSAs targeted at narrow markets in consideration of the 'multicasting' capability of DTV.

How to prevent a esnubE or a enon-inviteE

Article Abstract:

The 'snub' and the 'non-invite' are two nightmarish situations feared by publicists, there are ways to prevent them from happening, but once they happen, it is better to rough it out. Anything could happen and PR practitioners must be prepared with grace, professionalism, tact and patience. It is suggested that the chances of avoiding a snub be increased by monitoring the editorial calendars of key publications that are read by clients.
