EMI: playing the right tune, shame about the lyrics

Article Abstract:

EMI and Time Warner plan a JV for their music interests which is to be a major player in online music, according to EMI, which had initially sought to ignore the internet. The industry has been concerned about a possible rise in piracy as a result of the internet, which has come to be seen as a way of boosting sales. The structure of the deal is a 50/50 JV, and EMI stockholders retain their stocks, while Time Warner has control. There are questions as to why a bid has not been made. The merger has yet to be approved by regulators.
